"Hhhmmm." Logan's eyes opened and met hers. "Mornin, Sprite," he muttered, then snuggled closer. " This is a great way to start the day."
"Logan, as much as I would like to stay right here, I have to meet with Charles this morning," Misti reminded him. "I need to shower and get going."
He groaned. "Do ya' have to? Can't you tell him you're busy?"
"You know I can't. C'mon big guy, let me up." As Logan let her rise, a naughty grin emerged on his face. "I could help you with your shower."
Misti laughed. "I have a good idea what kind of help you'd give! I don't think so! I'll head to my room." She started to collect her clothes but picked up only shreds of fabric off the floor. "You're gonna be hell on my wardrobe, aren't ya'?"
Logan grabbed her and proceeded to plant little, nibbling kisses along her shoulder. "I didn't hear any complaints last night!"
Misti started to melt in his arms. "No, no complaints." Sanity returned. She pushed him away "Stop! I've really got to get ready!"
"Okay," Logan pouted. "Fine. You'll have to wear something of mine."
Misti donned a shirt and a pair of his shorts, which she had to hold up. "I'll see ya' later, big guy!" She gave him a smack on the lips and headed to her room.
"Guess I'll get cleaned up and find some breakfast," Logan said aloud. As he showered, he didn't realize he was humming happily.
Scott came into the kitchen while Logan was frying up some eggs. "Morning, Cyke. You want some chow?"
Scott executed a double take. "Did you just offer me breakfast? And what's with the stupid grin? What are you up to Logan?"
"Me? Up to something? Logan asked innocently. "Just wanted to know if you're hungry." Scott looked doubtful. "Even you can't ruin my good mood this morning, Cyke." Logan cracked some more eggs into the skillet.
"Jean, something's wrong with Logan," Scott announced when she came in. "I think he's sick."
"I am not sick!" Logan emphatically stated. "I'm fine! I'm better than fine! Just leave me alone! Can't I be in a good mood?"
Scott turned to Jean. "See?"
Jean walked to Logan and placed a hand on his arm. "Are you really ok?"
"Yes, Jean. Can we leave it at that?"
'You are acting odd, Logan,' Jean said mentally.
'You can't leave well enough alone, can you, Jean? Fine. You asked.' He produced images of the night before. 'Maybe now you'll stay out of my head!'
Jean stammered, "O-o-oh." Then she smiled. "It's about time. C'mon Scott, let's go," she said, turning to him.
"But what..."
"I'll tell you later," Jean grabbed Scott's arm and dragged him from the kitchen.
"Jean," Logan called after her, " you better keep your mouth shut!" He went back to his breakfast. When he was done, he planned on talking to the professor about the reservations he had about Misti joining the team.
Misti was coming out of the professor's office when Logan walked up. He took her in his arms and gently kissed her. "Hiya, Sprite! Will you meet me later at the lake? About 6:00?" All Misti could manage was a whispered "yes". "I'll see you tonight then." Another all to brief kiss and her pushed her on her way.
Logan raised his hand to knock, but before he had a chance, heard "Come in, Logan." Charles was behind his desk when Logan entered. "Good morning. I imagine you're here to discuss Misti."
Logan sat. "Nothing like cutting to the chase, Chuck."
"I know you have some, shall we say, personal problems with Misti joining us." Xavier held up his hand to stave off Logan's comments. "Let me finish. Misti has excelled in her training. She is fully prepared to go out on missions. As to your involvement with her," Logan managed to act surprised, "At first, I thought it might be a hindrance. But I think you can handle it. You will be able to keep an eye on each other."
"How did you know about us?" Logan asked. "You didn't read my mind."
"Logan, give me some credit." Xavier chuckled. "It's written all over your face."
